Carved Little Girl with Wonderfully Open Face fine engraving and with a little care

and with a little care her arms can be arranged to stick out through the sleeves--as shown in the photo of her from the back

but this carver clearly had some skills

I love the shape and detailing on the low heeled

with some older mustard underneath showing though

--and my favorite a drawing of a tiny couple inside a heart inside an orange moon

Carved Little Girl with Wonderfully Open Face fine engraving and with a little careI've kept this little girl near me for quite a while, but this seems just the right moment to share her. The openness of her brown face breaks my heart, looking quite ready for her first day of school, perhaps en route to leading the free world! With chunky black shoes, and one hand opened out to the side as if to hold the hand of a comrade. Full of life and hope. 4 1 2" t x 1 3 4" w x 1 1 16" d and in very good condition, c. 1940s or so I think.
